Drink More H2O

No, Diet Coke is not Water 😉

Today I want to focus on something that is often forgotten on a daily basis.  How important drinking water is!  Staying hydrated-with water this is-will benefit your body in many ways and is actually essential for survival.  You can only live a few days without water!

Anyone out there ever had a cramp in your leg or felt so hungry even after eating a decent meal?  Both are probably a result of not drinking enough water. This is just the tip of the iceberg when looking at some of the results of not drinking enough H2O. In case you’re wondering, here are a few:

-Slower metabolism and increased fat retention
-Water and sodium retention causing swollen legs, feet and hands
-Decreased sweat rate
-Decreased blood flow
So, now that you can see some of the negatives of not drinking enough water, let me just add one more important note-Diet Coke does not equal water!!  I hate to tell you that even though it is a liquid, it is not the same as drinking water.  In fact, the caffeine in coke forces the kidneys to flush more water out.  Therefore you need an extra glass of water for every caffeinated drink!
My challenge to you today is to keep track of how much water you drink per day and how many other drinks you have.  You should be drinking at least 96 oz of water a day -about 6 of the 16 oz water bottles.  That is a minimum so now you have a goal to work up to and try to beat! Take my advice and drink more water everyday. Your body will thank you and I promise you will feel better!!
Food for Thought: In case you aren’t convinced yet to drink more water, here are a few ways water can help you lose weight/fat – something we all would love!
*Drinking water before eating suppresses the appetite
*Helps body metabolize fat
*Reduces fat deposits
So, now go drink up:)

When I moved to the desert, it made me A LOT more aware of the amount of water I was drinking (but i’ve always been good in the H2O department) but now living in southern AZ, your body CRAVES massive amounts of it and it much less forgiving when you’re dehydrated, compared to more humid parts of the country.
