Plan Your Work Then Work Your Plan!

Planning ahead is key!  In fact, I think it is one of the most important parts of your day.  If you don’t have a plan you are setting yourself up for failure.  This goes for food and workouts.  That is why one of favorite quotes is “Plan your work, then work your plan.”

I know in my own life I have to set aside time either before I go to bed or when I get up to think through the coming day.  When will I get my workout in?  What snacks or meals do I need to pack and take on the run between clients?  If I didn’t do this, I would be lost and starving during the day.  Sound familiar?

Remember, you need to make sure you’re eating breakfast within an hour of getting up and then eating every 3 hours to keep your body fueled during the day.  Retraining your metabolism will be key because most people think the less you eat the better off you will be–WRONG!!  This thinking has totally wrecked your metabolism, putting you in starvation mode where your body stores everything instead of burning it off.  When you eat every 3 hours, your body becomes like a calorie burning machine.

Eat, Burn it off, Eat, Workout, Repeat!

So, as you go about your weeks, you need to plan your menus and workouts, grocery shop and prepare the food.  How are you going to do this?  Here is my suggestion and what I teach my clients for how to plan each week:

1. Set aside time on Saturday or Sunday to get your menus/meal plans together and put your workouts on your calendar
2. Put together your menus and make a grocery list. What proteins/fruits/veggies/carbs/healthy fats are you going to have at your meals and snacks?
3. Go grocery shopping for the week
4. Wash/Cut/Cook the food so you have everything ready for the week
5. Put in containers and store in the freezer or refrigerator


6. Get up in the morning or come home from work and everything is ready to go!!!  Pull it out of the refrigerator or freezer and heat or throw in a bowl and you’re set.

No stressing, feeling unprepared or turning to fast food and restaurants.

Now get to planning your work and then working your plan. Promise this will change your life!!! 🙂
