Rethink Your Drink

March 4, 2014

What are you drinking right now?  Chances are it is some kind of Coke, juice or coffee drink.  But maybe, just maybe you are drinking WATER!  These days we consume a lot of liquid calories from all the popular drinks available at fast food places, coffee shops and soda machines everywhere!  So, you’re probably saying, “I can’t live without my coke or coffee!”  But, I think if you see how much sugar is in those drinks, you may have second thoughts.

Check out this picture:  a 12oz can of coke has 39g of sugar, the 20oz bottle has 65g sugar and the liter bottle has 108g of sugar.  This is CRAZY!!!!  Just one can of coke has more added sugar than you should have in a whole day!  Keep in mind you should try to keep your added sugar under 30g a day.

But let’s not just call out soda…how about those Starbucks drinks?  Well, they are no better!  One grande (16oz) Java Chip Frappuccino has 66g of sugar.  You may think you’re doing better by choosing a “skinny” drink, but those have artificial sweeteners which are really just poison and make you crave sugar even more–but that is a whole other blog topic.  If you have another favorite drink, go check out how much sugar is in there.  The website below will allow you to see the truth. You will be horrified, I’m just warning you! Juices are no better, milk is loaded with sugar and pretty much every drink will fail the sugar test.

Or you can take a look at the picture below and it really brings this all to life!
If you want to lose a few pounds, cutting out sugary drinks is one of the best and fastest ways to do that.  You will reduce your sugar drastically, but also reduce the empty liquid calories.  Instead, keep a bottle of water handy and sip on that all day.  Add some lemon or fruit to give it some flavor and shoot to get 120oz of water a day.  You will feel like a different person when you cut out the sugary drinks and start drinking more water! Is it time for you to rethink your drink? 🙂
