Are YOU Running on “E”??

November 18, 2014

After a wonderful weekend away at my sister’s wedding, I returned home feeling very full of sweet memories, family time and great food.  However, I also returned to an empty refrigerator and feeling very low on sleep.  If you know me, I am a planner and make sure I plan ahead!  So returning home in these empty conditions is the perfect storm for a really rough Monday and start to the new week.

Not only could I barely get out of bed, but I ended up missing breakfast as I ran out the door to my Carolina Sweat workout.  I couldn’t tell you the last time I skipped breakfast so walking into my workout, I knew it would be rough–but I had no idea how rough!  I am constantly reminding my clients to eat within an hour of getting up to fuel your body and jump start your metabolism.  What was wrong with me?  Why did I skip breakfast?

Well I can tell you it will be the last day I skip a meal, especially breakfast! Usually I have plenty of energy to carry me through my workouts, but today was not one of them.  I was even asked, “Do you have a wedding hangover?” HA! Well, sad to say I sure felt like it and I hate to admit I had not planned ahead and was running low on energy, fuel and sleep. What a pathetic attempt at working out and I even felt like I would pass out at one point. Have you ever felt this way?Chances are this describes quite a few people…

What I was reminded of was that SO many people start their weeks in these conditions and “try” to make it through a work day or workout running on E. You will not have enough energy to carry you if you miss meals, especially breakfast. Breakfast is incredibly important for many reasons (go google it for tons of reasons why you should eat breakfast) and take my advice: EAT BREAKFAST! The way I felt today I never want to feel like again. I can promise you will feel like a completely different person if you eat a healthy breakfast–more alert, more focused, more productive and much more energetic 🙂
