January 2015 Challenge!

December 30, 2014

This time of year gets me excited and motivated because January is a fresh, clean start and anything is POSSIBLE in the year ahead. As I reflect on the past year and prepare for a brand new year, it’s amazing what can happen in a year. From growing a business and helping others get healthy, to getting the chance to share on TV, this has been one of the BEST years of my life and I can’t wait to see what God has planned in 2015.

With that being said, I want to capitalize on the first month of the year and set the best foundation possible for the coming year for myself, clients and friends. This means developing fit, active and healthy habits that will last much longer than just January. SO, let’s get this year started on the right foot! I want to propose a challenge that I’ll be doing myself and I’d love for anyone, especially my clients to join this challenge. It’s just a challenge with yourself, but I’ll be holding myself and my clients to it. Here’s the details:

* Pick whether you want to commit to NO added sugar, NO alcohol or BOTH throughout January.

* Write down your goal and plan a few ways to make this possible.

* Pick one friend, family member or coach (me) to hold you accountable to your goal.
No added sugar means no desserts, coffee drinks, sweet drinks such as soda and sweet tea and avoid/limit the added sugar in all your foods. Pay close attention to nutrition labels because sugar is added to EVERYTHING! You can eat fruit and natural sweeteners such as stevia. This part of the challenge is to help us focus on reducing sugar and becoming aware of how much is hiding in the food and drinks we have. No alcohol is just that–No wine, beer, mixed drinks, etc.

Picking a person to hold you to your goal will be incredibly helpful because they can keep you motivated and focused. I’d encourage you to get your husband/wife on board so you’re both on the same page and focusing on the same goal. The more your close circle of family and friends is involved, the more successful everyone will be! Writing down your goal is key because it will get your mind focused and keep your head in the game.  Keep that goal on your bathroom mirror or refrigerator so you’re reminded of it often.

Planning for success is critical as well. As one of my favorite quotes says,”Fail to plan; plan to fail.” Make sure you have lots of fruit at home and clean your pantry/frig out so there are no desserts, chocolate, alcohol, etc. around. If it’s not in the house, it’s much easier to avoid. You and I both know that if you have chocolate in the pantry, it will call your name until it’s eaten and gone 😉

So, on the eve of New Year’s Eve, think about what you want to accomplish in 2015 and set yourself up for success. Join me starting January 1st, as I am committing to NO added sugar AND NO alcohol all through the month of January. We will lose weight/inches, feel better and have much more energy. Pass this on to a friend and let’s get ready for an awesome year ahead!
