Quit The Coke

May 12, 2015

What are you drinking today?  Have a soda in your hand as you read this?  As the weather warms up, I start to crave something other than water to drink.  Last week I found the perfect solution–LaCroix sparkling water!!  It comes in a variety of flavors and there’s NOTHING else but natural flavor in this drink.  I’m addicted to the pineapple strawberry flavor 🙂  I even did a little digging on the website and discovered it is even better quality than I expected (http://www.lacroixwater.com/nutritional-faqs/):

  • 0 Calorie
  • 0 Sweetener
  • 0 Sodium
  • 0 Artificial Ingredients
  • The natural flavors are derived from the natural essence oils extracted from the named fruit used in each flavor

Now compare this to soda–full of empty calories, sugar/artificial sweetener, corn syrup and added caramel color.  What benefits does soda provide?  NONE!! In fact, check out these 7 negative side effects of soda:

Here’s a fantastic article from Health Magazine that summarizes why we need to quit coke to improve our health! Read every bit of this article if you’re a soda drinker.  There are excellent tips and suggestions! http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20902395,00.html?xid=healthyliving0506201

Unless you want to have added empty calories, rotting teeth, brittle bones, increased heart disease risk and many other health problems, it’s time to find an alternative to soda!  Diet soda isn’t the answer either…this just furthers the health risks because of the artificial sweeteners and sugar cravings it creates.  Try to slowly cut back on the soda so you can make a life-long change.  This is the key to long term health–gradual changes that lead to your best life.  Another way to really “see” the impact is to track your calories.  You will quickly realize a 20oz soda with 240 empty calories will take you almost an hour of jogging to burn off.  Not a fair trade if you ask me, but I’ll let YOU do the math!  It’s time to QUIT the COKE for good 🙂
