Bring on 2016!!

January 2, 2016

At the start of a new year, it feels like opening up a fresh, brand new book. The pages are crisp and clean, blank for us to write the next chapter for the coming year. One of my favorite quotes is from Brad Paisley and he says, “Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book…write a good one.”

What do you want to accomplish in 2016? How will this year be better than last year? January is  when it’s time to capitalize on the extra motivation you have to get healthy and develop better routines. January is also my chance to clean “house” and get my body cleaned out for a new year. It has become a tradition for me to start the new year cutting alcohol and added sugar for the month of January.

After the holidays, I feel like a detox is necessary! YES, even I cheat during the holidays and need to detox. In addition to cutting the added sugar and alcohol, I drink my favorite green drink once each day for the entire month (or as many days as possible).  It’s loaded with powerful and healthy greens, lemon juice which cleanses the body and multiple vitamins in the fruit. I typically find that my clients (and me) rarely get enough of our daily greens. So, this is a fantastic way to make sure you’re getting your veggie servings every day.

  • 1 Handful Organic SpinGreen DrinkachGreen in Blender
  • 1 leaf Organic
    Romain lettuce
  • 1 Organic celery stalk
  • Juice from 1/2 organic lemon
  • 1/2 organic green apple
  • 1/2 organic pear

I throw all of these ingredients and 1 cup of cold, filtered water in my blender and mix it until you have a blended green drink!  It’s super refreshing, cleansing and provides your greens for the day. I do try to do as much organic as I can to prevent added chemicals and pesticides. I have adapted this green drink from the “Glowing Green Smoothie” I heard about years ago.  Enjoy and here’s to a Healthy 2016!
